Kirsch AMP Motorization transforms how you interact with your draperies by letting you control them remotely from anywhere — right from your smartphone or tablet. Its slim, discreet design fits neatly behind your drapery panel, keeping the motor hidden while providing seamless functionality. Powered by battery, AMP Motorization integrates with Kirsch’s popular traversing tracks, including the Estate and Architrac Series 94001, making it an ideal choice for easily adjusting draperies in hard-to-reach places.
What Is Kirsch AMP Motorization?
In this video of our Kirsch drapery hardware training series, Glen Tyson, MYL Hardware and Products Distribution Manager, and Jennifer DeRosa, MYL Drapery Department Manager, walk us through the features and benefits of Kirsch AMP Motorization.
At its core, AMP Motorization is designed to work with traverse rods — not to be confused with simple curtain rods or poles. Traverse rods are specialized tracks equipped with carriers that allow you to open and close drapes smoothly via cord, baton, motor, or even by hand. Kirsch leads the industry in these custom window treatment hardware solutions.
The AMP Bridge: Your Wireless Control Hub
A key component of the AMP Motorization system is the AMP Bridge — a compact USB-sized device that connects to your home network through a wall charger. The Bridge acts as the communication hub between your Wi-Fi, the AMP motors, and the Kirsch app on your phone or tablet.
One Bridge can manage up to 30 devices, whether they are draperies or shades, making it easy to automate multiple window treatments throughout your home. It also supports integration with popular smart home platforms including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Shortcuts, and IFTTT, enabling voice commands and custom automation routines.
Easy Installation and Maintenance
The AMP Motor itself is about 15 inches long and mounts discreetly inside the track behind your drapery. It snaps easily into the pulley system and remains completely hidden behind the fabric for a clean look.
Power comes from a rechargeable battery pack located at the bottom of the motor. The battery pack can be charged in place by plugging in a low-voltage charger or removed for charging separately, making it convenient to maintain even on high or hard-to-reach windows.
Battery Life and Usage
Battery longevity depends on several factors such as the weight of the fabric and frequency of use. While exact lifespan varies, similar shade motors last approximately a year between charges under typical usage. The system is designed to handle regular opening and closing with ease, whether you’re controlling drapes daily or only occasionally.
Pricing and Value
Motorizing your Kirsch traverse rod involves adding the cost of the rod itself (whether Estate or Architrac track) and the remote and charger. While this is a premium upgrade, it offers unparalleled convenience, sleek design, and smart home compatibility — perfect for customers looking for effortless drapery control.
What to Know When Ordering Motorized Traverse Rods Fabricated by MYL
When you order a motorized traverse rod from Merrill Y. Landis, every detail is prepped to save you time and ensure a smooth installation. Please note the following:
- The “OPEN” and “CLOSED” limits are already set.
- Each motor, battery pack, and track are marked the same. If you have received multiple tracks and motors, please be sure to attach the motor and battery pack to the corresponding track.
- Each motor is already paired to their own channel. The motor is marked with which channel it is paired to.
- To operate a motor, change the remote channel to the corresponding numbered motor.
- For AMP Motors only: To operate ALL motors at one time, go to channel “O” and they will all respond.
- The motors are set to the “OPEN” position. If you have moved the masters and carriers to the “CLOSED” position manually to hang the drapes, be sure to manually “OPEN” the drapes BEFORE attaching the motor.
